Last week, a friend of mine wrote on her Facebook page: "It amazes me that if I put an address in my GPS, and do exactly what it says, I actually get to my destination!" Wouldn't it be nice if there was a job search GPS and if you did exactly what it told you to do that you would land the job of your dreams? As you know, life just isn't that controllable.

Saturday is the day that we celebrate our Independence, but since 1776, every day is Independence Day in America. It is a privilege that we have the freedom to make choices of where to live, what to buy and what to eat – it is a privilege that many of us take for granted. Aside from having freedom in our lives, we also have freedom in our career choices, in how we search for a job, and how successful we are in it once we find it. It's all about thinking independently…or doing things differently than everyone else.
